Vocabulary C is a collection of locked grooves created by Nicolas Bougaïeff and Narciss. As the two artists distill techno to its hypnotic essence, Vocabulary C reveals the astounding musical potential of the most radically minimal musical form.

Vocabulary C was created from the audio material from Principles of Newspeak, an album Nicolas Bougaïeff released last month. XLR8R described the title track of the album as “mind-bending”.

Bougaïeff and Narciss created over 50 locked grooves before whittling the selection down to a baker's dozen. The collection ranges from the muscular peak time warehouse vibes of Loop C-01 and playful humor of Loop C-05, to the industrial noise of Loop C-11 and uninhibited euphoria of closer Loop C-13.

The project features a series of video loops created by Itaru Yasuda, well known for his work with Richie Hawtin. The particular mood of each musical loop is embodied in corresponding video loops by variations on a pulsating letter C.

A new alias for a native Berliner techno artist, Narciss is inspired as much by the dystopian landscapes of manga artist Tsutomu Nihei as by 90s era white label techno. Narciss has releases scheduled in 2018 on DRVMS LTD. and Seelen Records.

Nicolas Bougaïeff’s Cognitive Resonance earlier this year marked the relaunch of legendary British label NovaMute. He previously collaborated on a 12” with Max Cooper for Traum Schallplatten. Bougaïeff holds a doctorate in music.
